Charlotte Ski and Snowboard Club: Racing
New Racers Needed
New Racers Needed
Join us for the kick off to the 2011/20112 racing season! Bring a friend or two!
Like last year, the first qualified 25 racers will have their $35 racing fee paid by the Charlotte Ski and Snowboard Club. You will still need to pay your $30 (single) ($50 for a family) CSSC yearly fee and sign the application with the waiver. The good news like last year, you will be sent at $25 gift certificate to Alpine Ski Center (Charlotte location only). Doing the math, your net will be $5.00 for the whole season. Lift tickets will also be discounted. We will try to have someone in charge of setting car pooling and working with hotels to get us deals since Cliff Dwellers closed this summer.
We will have some optional Friday night practices at Appalachian Ski Mountain. Don’t forget the race camps at Steamboat (I’m going), the three day clinic Sugar Mountain and the one day clinic at App. Details at the meeting. Plus, Rory will be in charge of the racing program at App this year. Very cool! If you don’t know Rory, you will. He is a bona fide ski god.
Of the 7,000 racers in NASTAR last year in the US, there were about 50 national champions in the various categories. We had three National Champions on our team.
- Jon Grigorian
- Margot Payne (and new club Prez)

I know of several folks wanting to sell some equipment. Bring it to the meeting. I also know some folks need some non-new equipment. So bring you racing gear and/or your check book.
We need more racers. Craig is traveling with NASCAR, Trish is pregnant, and Chuck will be a brand new Dad. But mostly we need beginning racers. We don’t have enough racers for Division II. We could have won the whole league last year if we have enough beginning racers in flights 14 – 20. We still finished 3rd last year which is awesome. We won a race day with zero Div II racers. I can be done but you can’t count on that. LOL!
