SUMMARY:Virginia Creeper Trail Bike Ride
DESCRIPTION:Come enjoy the beautiful fall weather on the Virginia Creeper Bike Trail. We will leave Charlotte about 8:30 am. The drive to Damascus is about 3 hours, where we will meet up at the Outfitters to get our bikes and take the shuttle to the top of the mountain. The ride down is about 17 miles of gorgeous mountain scenery on an old railroad path. If we have at least 12 sign-up we can get the group rate of $24.50, which includes your bike, shuttle to the top, helmet and bottled water. Keep checking back for more details about carpooling and meal possibilities.

DESCRIPTION:Lake Party at Lake Norman - Sat, Aug 20  Sat, Aug 20  The annual CSSC Lake Party will be at the home of Jim and Karin Dickson.  Their address is 115 Dearborn Lane (some maps show Dearborn Way), Mooresville, NC 28117. www.mapquest.com or see map link above.       DIRECTIONS BY CAR:  From I-77 , take exit 36.  Once on Dearborn, it is the first house on the left (white brick with a red roof).  Go past their driveway and park on the right side of the property, on the lawn before the neighbors gravel driveway.  The parking area should be marked.    We will start at 12:00 noon and go until 6:00 PM or later. We will eat around 1:00 PM.  If you like to bring a covered dish, please do so. Bring your float toys, towels, chairs and sun screen and what you will be drinking.    We will provide hamurgers and hot dogs. There are currently 30 participants staying in town from Asheville, East Tennessee Mogul Mashers, Columbia & Greater Charleston & Greensboro Ski Clubs. We would like to add a few participants from Charlotte.    Space is available at Etta Place (where ETMM is), Riverside (closest to the gondola) and Cimarron (ski-in, ski-out right at the bottom of Coon Skin Chair #7). The in-town condos are all great. SUMMARY:Trip to Winter Park, March 23-28, 2010/NASTAR Nationals Finals
DESCRIPTION:Winter Park Colorado, March 23-28, 2011  We have lined up a great trip to Winter Park Resort, 67 miles west of Denver, CO. The mountain has over 3000 skiable acres, 143 trails, and another 1200+ acres of off-piste terrain! There are also 25 lifts, 2 of which are high speed 6-pax.    This trip does coincide with Nastar National Championships being held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday the 25-27th. The Nastar entry fee is paid for by each individual entrant, not by the club. However, non-racers can choose to purchase a guest pass after arrival that gets them access to the parties and awards ceremonies.    The prices below all include taxes and fees. Of course, if you're not a racer participating in the national championships, you do not pay the race fee, so that would take your cost down another $200.    per person estimates for 5 nights  Lodging $250  Lift $172  racing fee $199    optional items  transfer R/T $104  group air $690    Specific trip details:  Lodging: Beaver Village condos in town. We are reserving 2 bedroom/2 bath condos and you have the option to register for a 4 adult or 5 adult (one on the pull-out sofa) option. All lodging is due in full at registration for the cost of $250 per person. The lodging is based on 4 people in a 2 BR/2BA condo. ($195 per person for the 5 nights if you put 5 people in the condo, one on the pull-out sofa. It's your option to choose.) If you choose the 5-adult option, all those in that condo will receive credit towards their lift tickets instead of an actual refund of the cost difference. There is also a 4 night option for lodging, if desired by you. Of course, that cost per night is a little higher since you wouldn't be staying as long. If you desire the 4-night option, you need to contact me directly to register. Children are free if they use the floor or the sofa, providing you either have adult condomates or pay for a 4 adult condo.    Lift tickets: Lift is pay for 4 days, get 5th free at a cost of $172 for adults. $25 per day for kids 6-12.    Schedule:  Wed 23rd- check in day/ski half day for your free day?  Thurs 24th- ski day. Opening ceremony, Warren Miller movie, live music, torchlight parade  Fri 25th- race day/ski day. Medal ceremony, ski team stars, live music, competitor raffle  Sat 26th- race day/ski day. Medal ceremony, party  Sun 27th- race day/ski day. Race of champions ceremony.  Mon 28th- check out/ski half day for your free day?    Airfare and Airport transfer: Group air is coming in from CLT just under $700. We are recommending you secure your own air from your preferred airport. I can get you the airfare information upon request. Transfer is scheduled through Home James with a Nastar discount, and they only service the Winter Park area and depart roughly once an hour. With discount, it’s $104 per person. It may be cheaper to share rental cars for those arriving together. I have typically gotten cars for less than $150 for the week in Denver.    Payment: Payment for lodging is due in full when you register. The remainder of your payment is due by March 7. There is an online sign-up for this trip to simplify the process. DESCRIPTION:AIRFARE:  Group air is booked into Albuquerque which is 135 miles from Taos at $334 round trip from Charlotte (CLT) to Albuquerque (ABQ). Air online is available for less than $300 but it is recommended that you check the group air schedule if booking your own air so you arrive in Albuquerque in time to catch the group shuttles to Taos.    LODGING:  CSSC will be staying on the mountain at Snakedance ski-in, ski-out condos. http://www.snakedancecondos.com/ There are full kitchens & fireplaces in all units, daily breakfast included and the onsite historic Honda restaurant & bar. There is a grocery store at Snakedance and an Albertson’s grocery store in town. Taos Ski Valley is full of history. SUMMARY:1st Annual Winter Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Charlotte Ski & Snowboard Club is partnering with Subaru to host an epic ski movie event showcasing two feature films and one short documentary at the US National Whitewater Center (USNWC)  http://www.usnwc.org on Saturday, November 13, with the films starting at 6pm.   Make plans to spend the day at the USNWC, or get there early for the movies as theater doors open at 5:30pm.  Movie tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door and include a $5 discount on an All-Sport Pass at the USNWC (additional USNWC $5 parking is not included in movie ticket price).   Tickets are now available on USNWC's website: https://store.usnwc.org/itemList.aspx?node_id=1138613 The US National Whitewater Center http://www.usnwc.org  is located at 5000 Whitewater Center Parkway, Charlotte, NC and their phone number is 704.391.3900.    Information on the films and the documentary is as follows:     “The Story”, produced by The Ski Channel, features American ski racing icons Bode Miller and Lindsey Vonn, big mountain legend Chris Davenport and X-Games champions Reggie & Zack Crist along with numerous other stars of skiing, snowboarding, paragliding, river surfing and kite skiing.  Check out the trailer for “The Story” here: http://www.theskichannel.com/TheStoryTrailer.php   The second film, also produced by The Ski Channel, is a short documentary on the late Shane McConkey, extreme skiing champion and the star of countless ski movies over the years. McConkey was killed in 2009 a ski wingsuit accident in the Italian Dolomites only four days into filming the documentary. Those four days have been packaged into a short film with Shane, his wife and daughter as well as legendary snowboarder Jeremy Jones with his daughter.   The last film, Matchstick Productions’ “The Way I See It”, was shot all over the world using state of the art high definition cinematography. The film documents Bobby Brown’s emergence as the single-most dominating park skier in the world as well as Sean Pettit’s follow-up performance to his 2009 “male skier of the year” award. Film crews witnessed epic powder skiing in northern Japan and followed it up with one of the most incredible trips ever to Alaska’s Chugach Range. Then they shot two perfect days in the Coast Mountains of British Columbia and culminated the tour with a trip to Alyeska Resort and one of the largest park features ever built. SUMMARY: Crescent Ski Council Steamboat Race/Ski/Ride Camp – 27th Anniversary
DESCRIPTION:Trip applications are available now.    Signup period begins June 1, 2010 and ends November 15, 2010, or when 350 participants are reached, whichever comes first.  Sports America Tours will not accept any form of application for sign-up after Nov 15, 2010.    COST:  The package cost (varies) is $899 for the base rate in a 3 bdrm/3 bath unit (limited quantity – about 120 spaces available.  Other rates and options are available on the information sheet which we can send you.    INCLUDES:  Included are 7 nights lodging at The Lodge at Steamboat, 6 day lift pass, 5 full days of ski lessons for any level of skiing (cost may be deducted), 3 lunches for all participants purchasing a lift pass, welcome wine & cheese party, keg party, western BBQ dinner, Awards Dinner with door prizes, NASTAR Race (included with lesson package, or an additional $5 payment, a pair of SmartWool Socks and free shuttle bus service within Steamboat, which includes downtown.  The trip is set-up as a race camp/ski school program and everyone is encouraged to participate.  If you have never tried it, you should, you will be pleasantly surprised!!  However, if you desire, the lesson portion may be deducted.  There are also other deducts and adds, especially for children 12 and under. SUMMARY:Charlotte Ski and Snowboard Club Trip to Park City, UT
DESCRIPTION: 01/18/2011 UPDATE: Denver advised that there are 2 individual spaces open – one for a single female and one for a single male..  If you’re interested, contact Denver Board right away at dboard@kwcharlotte.com or Leslie Hibbard at Sports America at leslie@sportsamerica.com.  This will be a great trip with ski, ski-out lodging at Snowflower condominiums.  The conditions at Park City are great.  You couldn’t ask for more:  good mountains, good snow, good times with your friends, good activities scheduled throughout the week.  It just doesn’t get any better than this!!    LAND PACKAGE COST:  7 nights in Snowflower 2 bedroom/2 bath condo, club events, ground transportation and 3-day Park City Lift Ticket - $990.00    TRIP INSURANCE:  We have information on travel insurance which is being offered through Sports America Tours and Travel Insured International.  Although travel insurance is optional, we highly recommend it.  Although hopefully participants will never have to use the travel insurance, unexpected events can sometimes occur, and the cost of the insurance is minimal compared to possibly losing all of the cost of a trip.  Cost varies from $40-$90. AIRFARE:  We have included group air information on the trip application and the Sports America air schedule is below, but are recommending that interested participants look into booking individual air if possible.  Airfare is approximately $300 range with great schedules.  Many people have booked their own airfare. LIFT TICKETS:  The trip cost does include a 3-day lift ticket at Park City with optional days and lift ticket pricing provided for Deer Valley, The Canyons and Alta/Snowbird.  Reminder when you’re choosing your lift ticket option to remember that Deer Valley and Alta do not permit snowboarders.  However, for the day trip to Alta/Snowbird, Snowbird is Snow board friendly and anyone interested could go to either resort – Alta or Snowbird.  Additional Lift ticket for Park City is $45 per person per day.  Additional Lift ticket for Deer Valley is $65 per person per day.  Additional Lift ticket for The Canyons is $57 per person per day.  Additional Lift ticket and bus for Alta or Snowbird is $74 per person.
